Announcement
We are pleased to announce you that "The 3rd Japan-Korea Bioinformatics Training Course" will be held at the Center for Information Biology and DNA Data Bank of Japan (CIB-DDBJ) in the National Institute of Genetics (NIG) on March 16-19, 2004.
If you wish to participate in this training course, please apply to it now (see below for application) ! The number of trainees is limited to 30 Japanese and Korean together. The trainee is expected to be either a graduate student or a postdoc in bioinformatics or its related fields.

Objective
It has been agreed at the Japan-Korea Science and Technology Forum (J-K STF) held in Seoul in 2001 that both countries should collaborate to hold an annual bioinformatics training course to educate young students and researchers in this field in the two countries. On the basis of this agreement we will hold the 3rd Japan-Korea Bioinformatics Training Course here at the Center for Information Biology and DNA Data Bank of Japan of the National Institute of Genetics in collaboration with the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB).
The first course was held at the center in 2002, and the second one was alternately held at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 2003. The organizers of the two courses consider that both were a success and have encouraged and convinced not only those trained but also others in this field and in the funding agencies of the two countries. This would be particularly understood, if we realize that without the knowledge, technology and idea in bioinformatics, no one would possibly carry out research smoothly in genomics, proteomics and other promising fields in biology. It is also needless to say that no fields flourish without young successors. These are the main objective to hold the 3rd Japan-Korea Bioinformatics Training Course. We strongly believe that there is a great potential power of bioinformatics laying in Asia, and hope that this course will help to mine the power to some extent.
We are grateful to the Japan Science and Technology Agency and KRIBB for the financial supports that have made this training course possible.

More information:: NIG is located in a little distant form the Mishima city area.; We don't have any cafeteria nor a snack stand on campus. There are only vending machines for soft drinks.; There is a convenience store in 10 minutets' walk from NIG.
