The Genomic Standards Consortium (GSC) framework developed and presented Minimum Information about an Uncultivated Virus Genome (MIUViG) standards for reporting sequences of uncultivated virus genomes. Lee Kyungbum, Ph.D., of DDBJ Center contributed this activity.
- Minimum Information about an Uncultivated Virus Genome (MIUViG) Nature Biotechnology 2018 doi: 10.1038/nbt.4306
The major contents are as follows.
- The Genomic Standards Consortium(GSC) framework developed and presented Minimum Information about an Uncultivated Virus Genome (MIUViG) standards for reporting sequences of uncultivated virus genomes.
- MIUViG checklist includes virus origin, genome quality, genome annotation, taxonomic classification, biogeographic distribution and in silico host prediction.
- INSDC (DDBJ/EBI-ENA/NCBI), a collaborator of the GSC, will host and display MIUViG checklist metadata alongside the uncultivated virus genome sequence.
